The city of Houston will soon begin installing new credit card accepting parking meters. The project will go in 3 phases with the city installing 125 meters at a time. They should be in place by September according to Liliana Rambo. She heads Houston’s Parking department. The first place you will see the new meters will be at City Hall’s Annex building. The installations will call for the closure of at least one lane where the meters are installed. But Rambo says the maximum time allowed will be 96 hours to get the job done by the crews. The meters will be equipped with HiFi to accept your credit cards. But the new machines will also take bills and coins the old fashioned way.
