SEVERAL FAMILIES NEED YOUR HELP!
As first reported on FOX 26 news Wednesday night 16 women and their children could end up in the heat and dark. This comes as the financial strained Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center faces a disconnection from Reliant. The community center, that acts as a homeless shelter for 16 women and their children, is $11,000 behind on their electric bill. Reliant reps have told the shelter/community center the lights will be disconnected some time Thursday. Here’s the problem: The center depends on federal funding from HUD. But their next grant won’t be in for several weeks. So in between grants the center’s directors can’t afford to pay the electric bill. They’re asking for the help of the public to try and pay the bill. If you think you can help contact The MLK Jr. Community Center at 713-659-7705.
