MEDIA CELEBRITIES AND INTELLECTUAL MINDS STOP BY THE INSITE!

Radio/television talk show host and former B.E.T. personality Tavis Smiley kicked off his youth Leadership Institute at Texas Southern University in Houston Friday evening. Along for the seminar were Dr. Cornell West and tenured Princeton professor Eddie Glaude. As you may remember Dr. West, one of the top intellectuals and educators in the country, also starred in The Matrix 2 &3. And Dr. Glaude was a student of West and now he heads the department his mentor is a professor in at Princeton. Now back to the event, dozens of young people from all over the country are participating in the institute that will last four days. The Insite was there along with Insite regular Misty Starks, FOX public affairs director Lisa Whitlock and a host of others…Enjoy the photos…Click to enlarge.

DOING ALL THEY CAN TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE SERIAL KILLER!

I was out covering the horrible serial killer situation in Acres Homes Friday when The Insite made a stop at the first major community radio station in Houston. 96.1 Tha Zone was started by Kevin ‘K.P.’ Ener…It began in his living room and now it has its own free standing facility on W. Montgomery Road in Acres Homes. I had a chance to meet the owners and their staff. They were busy informing the community about the serial killer that has claimed the lives of 6 women in the area. Here are some pictures that were snapped by The Insite-cam…

I GUESS BERRY GOT HIS GHETTO PASS BACK!

It was clear by listening to KPRC talk radio this morning that New Black Panther Party leader Quanell X and Conservative politician and radio host Michael Berry have buried the hatchet. They are working together to get the word out about the victims of a possible serial killer in Acres Homes. Both implied that the lack of attention brought to the recent 6 murders of women in the community is likely the result of racism or the public and the media not caring. If you’ll remember the two high profile and very opinionated leaders fell out several years ago when Berry failed to support an issue at city council that explored reparations for African Americans. Quanell X said very publicly that Michael Berry had lost his ghetto pass as a result of the disagreement. Apparently, all of that is in the past and Berry has his ghetto pass back. The two men talked as if they were old friends just catching up on the radio Friday morning. But seriously, this issue of a serial killer is what likely made the men put their differences aside for a bigger purpose. What do you think about the serial killer issue as well as Berry and Quanell X working together again?
