It was back in July when Houston Mayor Bill White and others announced the new quiet zone for West University and Bellaire. It was an area of town where trains were not to use their loud horns and the railroad crossing signals wouldn’t go off any more. Well, it was just last Monday on the feeder road of 59 before Weslayan where I heard the railroad crossing signal blaring. And if I’m not mistaken I also so heard the horn of a train. That left me wondeing if there is some type of fine for a violation when there is no emergency. I guess that’s a better question for the Mayor’s office. I wonder if any of the West U or Bellaire residents heard it that day and complained? After all the quiet zone was designed for their peace of mind!
