SHOULD PEOPLE BE BANNED FROM SMOKING IN HOUSTON BARS?

THE HOT ISSUE ON THE COUNCIL’S TABLE AND AGENDA!

City Hall was packed Tuesday for public session…And bar owners who oppose expanding the city’s smoking ban may have enough support among City Council members to stall a proposal by Mayor White that the council could vote on today. The proposal would go into effect next September. It prohibits smoking at all free standing bars and enclosed workplaces. The exemptions would be several cigar shops and some private functions as well as outdoor patios. Several council members said Tuesday that they want bars exempted, and at least two oppose any extension of the existing law. The panel will debate the issue today. So the question for you is: Should smoking in free standing bars be banned?
