A city council member staffer tells the Insite Houstonians are already complaining about the new hi-tech parking meters even before they’re unwrapped. Some people appeared before city council on Tuesday to say they don’t like the bulky new machines. They claim they’re an eyesore and take up too much space. Some also say the meters are being placed in locations where parking has been historically free. But that staffer says those complainers haven’t given the meters a chance yet. In fact, the electronic parking attendants that haven’t been turned on yet, will take your credit cards and we hear you may be able to reload them with your cell phone. What I’m looking for is a parking meter that will allow me to put my parking space on lay-away or at least let me pay for it in weekly installments!
