INSITE JUDGE OF THE WEEK: FEDERAL JUDGE DAVID HITTNER!

TOUGH, FAIR AND SMART ON THE FEDERAL BENCH!

Judge David Hittner is one of those judges who is knowledgeable on just about everything. Sit in his chambers for about ten minutes and you will be amazed at the stories he has to tell. Houtson attorneys describe him as tough, fair, and smart. And that’s why many of them must be prepared when they go before him in his courtroom on the 8th floor of the federal building. Hittner is a Reagan appointee to the federal bench. He’s been overseeing federal cases since 1986. Hittner first became a state court judge back in 1978. The New York University graduate takes pride in the work he does on the federal bench. He has recently taken senior status but has refused to slow down. He’s planning on presiding over cases in New Orleans and New York in the coming year. You may remember Judge Hittner when he was at the wheel during Enron figure Leah Fastow’s sentencing last year. He sent her to the federal pen for a year. The judge, while hearing former and controversial HPD cop Tom Nixon’s case on his termination from the department, told the officer to shut up and let his hired attorney handle the case. You see Nixon is also a law school graduate and was reportedly interjecting just as much as his lawyer. Hittner also recently presided over Houston rapper Ganxta Nips case several months ago. And for those of you who didn’t know – Hittner is the father of Houston political figure and now US Department of Labor appointee George Hittner. Judge thanks for stopping by the Insite!
