ONE OF THESE WOMEN COULD BE THE NEXT HOUSTON CITY COUNCIL MEMBER!
The Insite had a chance to sit down with two women who are considering a run for the city council seat left vacant by Shelley Sekula Gibbs. Gibbs will serve out the unexpired 2 month term of Tom Delay. Nandy Berry – a local corporate attorney – is also the wife of Houston council member Michael Berry. Berry says she knows how important the position is and that’s why she’s taking a few days to decide if this is what she wants to do. The India native says Houston has treated her well since she arrived in this country in 1989. And she would love to give back by serving the community once her mind has been made up. The second possible candidate is Melissa Noriega. She is the wife of State Representative Rick Noriega. Mrs. Noriega says she will decide if she will run for the position once she has done some soul searching. The 20+ year educator says she has a 9 year old son and it’s difficult on a child when both parents are in public service. So we will just have to wait and see if they will throw their political hats in the ring!
