THE CITY TO HONOR THE COUGARS!

City Hall Hosts Victory Rally for the Conference USA Champion

University of Houston Cougar Football Team

Mayor Bill White today congratulated the University of Houston Cougar Football Team on capturing the Conference USA championship and encouraged Houstonians to come to City Hall for a rally in their honor. The Coogs put on a masterful performance as they defeated the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, 34-20, in a battle before a “sold out” crowd at Robertson Stadium, on Friday.

“The University of Houston means a lot to our city. Its students are among our leaders and the university is an important part of Houston’s economic engine,” said Mayor White. “The high energy and good spirit generated by the hard work and excellent play of the team brings positive attention for the University and their appearance in the Liberty Bowl, December 29th, gives us some extra holiday cheer.”

The rally of champions will take place on the steps of City Hall, 901 Bagby, from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2006. The University of Houston Marching Band and Cheerleaders will join members of the 2006 C-USA Championship Football Team.
