SO FAR SHE HAS REFUSED TO RESPOND TO WHAT ONE COUNCIL MEMBER FEELS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL THE BLACKS WHO SUPPORTED HER!
Houston City Council member Jarvis Johnson sent a strongly worded memo to Houston City Controller Annise Parker asking her to refrain from using a certain acronym at City Hall. The acronym Johnson is refering to when pronounced sounds just like kaffir. A term used by the white South Africans during apartheid as a racial and ethnic insult. The American equivalent to kaffir would be nigger. But the term Parker actually used refers to the city of Houston’s comprehensive financial report and its acronym is CAFR which sounds just like kaffir when spoken. Johnson sent Parker a memo obtained by The Insite which essentially says he feels uncomfortable with her use of the acronym so he asked that she not use it again. That memo was sent on December 6th. So far Parker and her staff at the Controller’s office have yet to respond. And when the Insite approached Parker for a comment a spokesperson, Janice Evans, said the controller could not fit The Insite into her Monday schedule. Evans went on to say Johnson misspelled the word kaffir and that the acronym is used by accounting entities all over the country. TSU political scientist Dr. Sanders Anderson says even if Parker didn’t mean CAFR as a racially derogatory term she should take the time and put out the fire that’s apparently spreading as a result of her inability to respond to the memo and Johnson. The Insite will keep you update!
