BATON ROUGE’S NEWEST ANCHOR WOMAN!
The Insite has learned former WAFB, KLFY and Las Vegas anchor Valentina Wilson has been tapped as the new anchor for WVLA-TV in Baton Rouge. The NBC affiliate is starting up a news operation after being dormant for several years. Wilson most recently worked as the main anchor at KLFY-TV in Lafayette, La. Val and The Insite worked together in the early 90’s in our hometown of Baton Rouge. Congratulations Val on the new gig. No word yet when WVLA will hit the airwaves with its new newscast!
Note: Management at WVLA will have quite a job on its hands. The upstart will have to compete with the dominant news operation in town – WAFB – which has been number #1 in the market for years. The other station is WBRZ – the ABC affiliate – which has struggled to keep up with WAFB for the last decade.
