Kevin Wilson and his wife Melinda have filed complaints against 2 HPD officers who arrested Mr. Wilson for possession of a controlled substance. Wilson, who has no criminal history and a is local barber, says he was arrested after the officers accused him of having codeine in an Ozarka water bottle. Wilson says he and his wife were approached after they entered the Dillard’s department store in the Galleria. The couple’s attorneys Troy Pradia and Jonathan Cox also say they plan to sue Dillard’s because the store was ultimately responsible for the officers’ actions. DETAILS NOT IN THE BROADCAST REPORT: Because of time constraints reporters can’t include everything in their on-air reports. But according to Wilson’s complaint when his wife Melinda became very vocal during the investigation he was reportedly told by one of the officers “I can tell who wears the pants in your family.” Also one of the officers joked and said if Wilson had watched Chris Rock’s show he’d know how to stay out of trouble with the police.
2ND UPDATE: The two Houston police officers involved have been relieved of duty and temporarily reassigned as a result of this incident.
