Houston democrat Richard Garcia says he’s still not going to give up his fight to abolish the Harris County Treasurer’s office. Garcia tells The Insite he narrowly lost the race to become the county’s purse man against republican Orlando Sanchez who now has the $90,000+ a year job. Garcia says he’s going to seek avenues in the legislature to try and abolish the position he sees as useless. He says if he is successful the title of Treasurer will disappear but the employees of the county office would be reassigned. Garcia says he originally ran for the position in effort to save taxpayers money. The insurance adjuster says if he’s unable to get the position abolished during Sanchez’s term he will run again until he is able to accomplish his mission!
