Houston State Representative Sylvester Turner is making his first stop by The Insite. Turner has been a fixture in Houston politics since becoming a representative of the people back in 1988. The Harvard Law school graduate says his passion has been serving the people. So what is one of Turner’s proudest accomplishments – You would have to travel to W. Little York in Acres Homes to see that. It’s a park that has been named after the lawmaker. He says “it’s hard to describe” the feeling he gets after having a park named after him. It’s called Turner Park. The 27 acre facility boasts jogging trails, 3 baseball fields, recreational equipment and it neighbors two local schools. Turner says the price tag on the park was $2.6 million with most of the money coming from private donations. Turner says the park is an acknowledgement of the work he is doing and has done over his political career. He says it’s good not to have to wait “until you’re dead” to get such respect from the community. Make sure you stop by Turner Park located on W. Little York near Victory in the Acres Homes area. And thanks for stopping by The Insite Mr. Turner.
P.S. He tells me he reads The Insite all the time!
