THEY CAN’T LET A DEAD WOMAN KEEP THE SEAT!

AND THIS ISN’T THE LAST ELECTION!

The 2006 election season hasn’t ended in Matagorda and northern Brazoria counties and may not end until January. Last month voters in state House District 29 elected Glenda Dawson to a third term eight weeks after she died. The Democrat she defeated and three Republicans are running in a special election today to replace her. Unlike regular state House elections, this one wasn’t preceded by party primaries, and all candidates are on the ballot together.
If no one candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters will face each other in a runoff next month. Those hoping to get Dawson’s seat are Anthony DiNovo, John Gorman, Mike O’Day, and Randy Weber. All four candidates live in Pearland, the biggest city in the district.
