HOUSING THE HOMELESS – 20 EVERY 90 DAYS!
Mayor Bill White’s Homeless Coalition presented the results of months of meetings to deal with the city’s transient population. They will be putting at least 20 of the city’s less fortunate individuals up for 90 days to help them get on their feet. That process will continue with a new 20 or so very 3 months. Rooms have been set aside for the homeless at an old Howard Johnson’s on 45. It’s part of a bigger plan that will eventually lead to 300 permanent homes for the homeless. More details as first seen on FOX 26 news at 9pm below. Do you think the city is doing enough or is this latest effort even scratching the surface?
Note: This was part of the Mayor’s campaign to stop Houstonians from giving panhandlers spare change – instead he wanted you to give it to homeless organizations – this is what’s paying for the program mentioned above – private donations!
