THERE’S ALWAYS A LOOP HOLE TO GET AROUND AN ISSUE!

MAX’S SHUT DOWN BUT THE PARTY IS STILL GOING ON!

It was back in mid October when Mayor Bill White and council member Pam Holm moved forward with a plan to shut down three nightclubs in the Tanglewilde/Westmont area. Those clubs: Max’s, Player’s, and Big Yo’s. The city claimed the clubs were public nuisances in a lawsuit. All the clubs eventually shut down. But The Insite has learned the ballroom right next to Max’s called Belle Aida has all but turned into a weekend nightclub according to sources. The facility I’m told is rented out on a consistent basis every weekend and the same large crowds are packing in the Tanglewilde area once again. Apparently, the owner has found a way around the Mayor’s lawsuit by simply renting out the facility. The Insite has also been told the crowds are so large at Belle Aida that it’s not uncommon for those throwing the parties to allow the crowd to spill over into Max’s which adjoins the ballroom. So the problem residents have complained about – lots of party goers parking in their neighborhoods – is back. Here’s a snap shot of one of the recent parties (December 2006) held at Belle Aida. And you can tell it’s a packed building and these people obviously drove to the facility and had to park somewhere – was it in Tanglewilde?
