SOME SAY THE TASER HASN’T DONE ITS JOB IN TWO RECENT CASES!

SHOULD THE DEVICES RELIABILITY BE QUESTIONED?

The death of two Houston men have some wondering why weren’t tasers used instead of deadly force – bullets. One man was shot and killed by a Houston police officer on Knoxville street Monday afternoon during a traffic stop. On Sunday, 21 year old Omar Esperanza was gunned down by a Houston police officer after he reportedly came towards officers with a hammer. That’s two deaths in as many days. But back to my first question – Why didn’t HPD use their tasers instead of deadly force? Actually, in both cases the officers did. However, the department says the tasers in both cases failed to stop the suspects. In one case – Knoxville Street – police say the suspect was able to turn the officers taser back on him – zapping the cop twice – once on the arm and neck. So should someone ask the question just how reliable are these tasers? Police insist they’re good tools but in some cases when suspects are on drugs – the tasers won’t stop them all the time!
