PARADE WATCHER: "I CAN’T BELIVE I SPENT FIVE DOLLARS ON PARKING FOR THIS"

MLK PARADE #2 ROLLS DOWN THE STREETS OF HOUSTON!

The Insite attended the second Martin Luther King Day Parade in downtown Houston on Monday. As many of you know there are two competing parades. The first was too early for me so I attended the second (Black Heritage Foundation) one at 2 pm and received a certificate of appreciation. But I was really shocked at how short this event was. It lasted all of 20 minutes and then the city street sweepers were already in action. There were about 20 or so cars, one marching band, Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee lead the parade and an Elvis impersonator wrapped up the event to remember Dr. Martin Luther King. There were about 200 people watching the event from the sidewalks. As I walked near the end of the route one woman looked very disgusted. She asked me if that was the end of the parade. I said yes mam. She rolled her eyes at me and said “Shit, I spent $5 on parking for this.” And that says it all!
