MINISTER ROBERT MUHAMMAD DROPS BY THE INSITE AND ADDRESSES HPD ALLEGED RETALIATION ISSUE!

HE SAYS HOUSTON IS AT THE TIPPING POINT AND THE NEXT PROTEST COULD BE IN RIVER OAKS AND THE GALLERIA AREAS!

Houston’s Nation of Islam and religious leader Minister Robert Muhammad drops by The Insite to address Gladys House’s claims that she was retaliated against by a group of Houston Police officers. See previous post and broadcast report:

THE MINISTERS COMMENTS:

We have seen the IAD report and the warrant. The sequence of paperwork clearly shows that the warrant was filed after the intial contact with Gladys House and one day after the IAD complaint. The criminal justice system is designed to protect the person and property of those in power. The policeman, no matter their color, have replaced the overseer on the plantation. Those in power in Houston are primarily white, upper middle class, property owners. Most have no idea or don’t care about the abuses of power that take place in the criminal justice system against poor people of color and youth in their names. Nothing excuses breaking the law; but it is unfortunate that the harshest sentences for the same crimes go to people of color who are poor. Forget the name, shame and blame game – deal with the facts. If this city of ours is to ever live up to its true potential, we must confront the disproportionate number of Black children in CPS custody, juvenile justice, special education, criminal justice and homeless. This is why Blacks will not march on HPD headquarters or the courthouse for the foreseeable future. The next series of protests will be held in River Oaks, Memorial, The Galleria, Meyerland and the Greater Houston Partnership. Until the power elite in this city understand that we have now reached what Malcolm Gladwell termed “The Tipping Point” their less well to do brothers and sisters will continue to live and blog in total denial of racial injustice. Play time is over. No more business as usual. No more plantation politics. Either all will enjoy the great opportunities of this city or nobody will have any peace. The point is – police misconduct, selective prosecution, and racial injustice is bad for business in this city. It is up to ALL working class people and communities of color, which are the true majority in this city, to unite and assert themselves. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote: “Power is not the white man’s birthright; it (power) will not be legislated for us (Blacks) and delivered in neat government packages. It is a social force any group can utilize by accumulating its elements in a planned, deliberate campaign to organize it under its own control.”
