TWO AFRICAN AMERICAN COACHES HEADED TO THE BIG GAME: SHOULD THEIR RACE BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION?

SOME SAY: WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL OVER THEIR RACE – THEY SHOULD BE JUST SEEN AS COACHES!

There will be two African American NFL football coaches in the Super bowl for the first time in history. Should it matter? I was riding home Monday afternoon when a talk show host said it shouldn’t matter or even be an issue – so what is the big deal he said…That talk show host went on to say there have already been a long line of African American first so why should this matter. He also declared if African Americans want to be treated as equals in the NFL – they shouldn’t be so quick to separate themselves by race. So the question The Insite has is should it matter? Should it be a big deal that Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears and Tony Dungy of the Colts will be the first African Americans to coach teams at the pinnacle of football?
