The Insite received this letter from City Council candidate Andy Neill reminding Insite readers about a fun run:
Dear Insite Readers-
Please come support the Houston Humane Society on Sunday, March 18th at the 26th annual K-9 Fun Run. This is their largest fundraiser of the year, and it’s where they raise most of the money they use to rescue, heal and re-home over 50,000 pets each year. Last year they had almost 1,000 runners, and more than two thousand people attended to celebrate the day.
The race is just one measly mile long, so anyone can do it. You can enter in either the competitive run category, the jog category, or the walk category. The three races happen at different times, so no one has to worry about getting run over. The event this year is at the Sam Houston Park on the edge of downtown, and races kick off at noon (though the free food starts long before that).
There will be music, Frisbee dog demonstrations, and again free food (including Kolaches, Starbucks, Canyon Cafe, Coldstone Creamery, etc.). After the race there is a parade of “graduates” from the HHS who’ve been living in their loving homes for years now, and a doggie costume contest with celebrity judges (might Isiah be one of them ??). You can register online at http://www.houstonhumane.org/events.aspx. They’d love your support, and I hope to see you out there on race day!
