On Saturday, April 7, 2007, Houston City Council Member Jarvis Johnson-District B, in collaboration with Council Member Peter Brown (At Large Position 5), State Representative Sylvester Turner (District 139) and Inner City Action Network (I.C.A.N.), a non-profit organization, will host the 2nd Annual Spring Fling at the Northeast YMCA located at 7901 Tidwell, Houston, Texas 77028. Spring Fling begins at 10 AM with Easter Egg hunts and continues until 2 PM. The festival is free and open to the public.

Spring Fling is a four hour community event featuring live entertainment and a variety of games, activities and educational booths for the youth. Easter egg hunts, train rides, moonwalk and face painting are just some of the fun-filled activities. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures. The Houston Zoo will provide live animals and other educational attractions. The City of Houston Police Department and Black Vette’s of Houston will display their helicopter and show cars. Texas Cops & Kids will provide free hot dogs and Frenchy’s will provide free chicken. Several vendors will participate.
This year’s Spring Fling will also feature an hour Gospel Fest show. We have confirmed Mrs. Sonya Townsend, local gospel artist with single “Blessings;” SOTE’ a contemporary gospel group, and a capella foursome The Johnson Boys to participate in the event.
Council Member Jarvis Johnson stated: “Spring Fling is a time to bring the community together to share their talents and information while learning more about their neighbors and other people interested in making a better District B.”
