$36,000 FOR A DESK IN THE LOBBY OF CITY HALL?

MADE OF MARBLE TO MATCH CITY HALL!

IT’S BIG, BROWN, MADE OF MARBLE AND HAS A PRICE TAG OF MORE THAN 30-THOUSAND DOLLARS…THE QUESTION IS – DID THE CITY OF HOUSTON PAY TOO MUCH FOR A LOBBY DESK AT CITY HALL…THE INSITE HAS LEARNED THIS NEW ADDITION TO THE BUILDING HAD A PRICE TAG OF 36-THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE MAYOR’S OFFICE TELLS US HALF THE COST WAS PICKED UP BY THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION – A PRIVATE GROUP. HOWEVER, SOME SAY 18-THOUSAND DOLLARS IS STILL TOO MUCH FOR THE CITY TO SPEND ON A LOBBY DESK. THE MAYOR’S OFFICE SAYS THE DESK IS NOT JUST FOR AESTHETICS BUT PART OF THE BUILDING’S SECURITY SYSTEM. BUT THE 36-THOUSAND DOESN’T INCLUDE THE COST OF THE SECURITY SYSTEM. WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU. DO YOU THINK $36,000 IS TOO MUCH TO PAY FOR A DESK AT CITY HALL…OR IS IT ADEQUATE TO HAVE THE DESK DESIGNED TO HISTORICALLY MATCH THE BUILDING? LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW!
