HARRIS COUNTY DEPUTIES PREVENT A DEADLY OFFICE SHOOTING!

INVESTIGATORS SAY HE HAD PLANS TO KILL EVERYONE IN THE OFFICE!

On Thursday, May 03, 2007, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Deputy R. C. Johnson was flagged down in the 15,000 block of Mason Rd. The reportee told Deputy Johnson that he had fired an employee the previous day. The ex-employee’s wife called the reportee this morning and said that her husband was on his way to the office with a gun, and that he intended to kill other employees. The reportee said that there were no other employees in the office at the time.

Deputy Johnson requested an additional unit to the scene, and Deputy L. Stover arrived a short time later. As Deputy Johnson was advising Deputy Stover of the situation, they observed a green four-door vehicle driving into the business parking lot at a high rate of speed. The reportee informed the Deputies that it was, in fact, the suspect’s vehicle. As the Deputies began running toward the suspect vehicle, the suspect suddenly turned around and sped towards the freeway. Deputies returned to their vehicles and gave chase.

The suspect fled eastbound on 290, and the Deputies caught up with him near Mueschke Rd. When the Deputies caught up with the suspect, he pulled over and was taken into custody without incident. An inventory of the vehicle discovered a shotgun and shells. The suspect has been identified as 31 year old Michael Landefeld. Charges of Attempted Aggravated Assault are pending at this time. The suspect also had three outstanding traffic warrants at the time of his arrest.
