MORE RED LIGHT CAMERAS IN HOUSTON!

FIFTY RED LIGHT SAFETY CAMERAS NOW ONLINE COMPLETING CONSTRUCTION PHASE IN HOUSTON!

In its continuing efforts to increase public safety, the City of Houston has announced that the fifth set of 10 red light safety cameras are operating at the following locations, completing the construction phase of the program with 50 cameras online:

§ Northbound South Wayside @ Gulf Freeway, West Service Road
§ Northbound Woodridge @ Gulf Freeway, West Service Road
§ Westbound West Bellfort Avenue @ Southwest Freeway, East Service Road
§ Northbound Fairbanks N. Houston @ Northwest Freeway, West Service Road
§ Northbound West Sam Houston Parkway South, East Service Road @ Westpark Drive
§ Eastbound F.M. 2351 @ Gulf Freeway, West Service Road
§ Eastbound South Post Oak Boulevard @ West Loop South, West Service Road
§ Northbound Northwest Freeway, East Service Road @ Mangum Road
§ Westbound South Sam Houston Parkway East, North Service Road @ Telephone Road
§ Southbound Stella Link Road @ South Loop West, North Service Road

Since the first 10 red light cameras began operating on September 1, 2006, more than 69,000 Notices of Violation have been issued by the Houston Police Department.

“Our priority is to promote the safety and welfare of the citizens of Houston,” said Sgt. Michael Muench with the Houston Police Department. “Red light running is completely preventable. The ultimate goal of the program is to change driver behavior by increasing driver awareness and discouraging dangerous driving and red light running.”
