Kroger employees voted Wednesday night to go on strike against the giant grocer if they can’t successfully negotiate a new contract.
The vote was called after negotiators from the United Food and Commercial Workers union said they were unhappy with Kroger’s offer on health insurance coverage.
“It’s premature to be considering a strike while negotiations continue,” Kroger spokesman Gary Huddleston said. “We do not feel this action by the local unions is in the best interest of our employees or the negotiators.”
Union negotiators are scheduled to meet with representatives of Kroger today. The union represents 12,700 Houston-area cashiers, stockers and meat cutters.
Question: If the Kroger workers walk out will you support them?
