ARE SOME RAPPERS FORCED TO BE CRUDE?

RAPPERS CRITICIZED FOR CLEANING UP LYRICS!

There has been a big debate about rappers using offensive language since the Dom Imus issue. After Imus delivered his blistering words someone, somewhere, somehow, managed to switch the focus from Imus to rappers. As a result, some rappers have made the uneasy commitment to not use foul language in their music. One of those rappers is Master P from Louisiana. The response – now some music journalist are now calling him ‘soft’ and even making fun. So the question I have – is the foul language we hear from some rappers encouraged by music journalist, rap bloggers and the public. Read a portion of this article written by a Houston rap blogger. It seems to encourage foul mouth rappers while making fun of those who clean up their lyrics:

I dont know when it happened exactly but at some point Master P changed. I remember Ice Cream Man and screaming Bout It Bout It but then one day it was all gone and P was happy with people calling him Percy.
So with P about to release a new album and a new commitment to be profanity free, the question is did Master P go soft, or did he just grow up and should we all do the same?
