NEW CANEY WANTS TO CONTROL THE MEDIA OR THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING?

THE BOARD CREATING NEW RULES TO DEAL WITH MEMBERS OF THE NEWS MEDIA!

New Caney Independent School District recently adopted new rules some see as a way to keep the news media under control at it’s public meetings. You may remember last May when FOX 26’s Randy Wallace attempted to question board president Gene Gregory about his past bankruptcy and criminal record. Wallace was ultimately ignored by school officials and described as a disturbance to the district’s meeting. The second trip FOX 26 made to the district – a camera man and producer were forced out of the meeting by district spokesperson Cindee Reynolds. Last Tuesday the district adopted a policy on how to handle the news media. Some are saying it’s an attempt to ensure members of the media have limited access to school officials in cases of wrong doing. What do you think about the new policy?
