THE NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM GOES DOWN AGAIN!

SHOULD THERE BE A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OR GIVE THE SYSTEM TIME TO WORK?

This is like the 100th time I’ve reported on The Insite or tv news that the multi-million dollar computer system at Municipal court has crashed. I’m told by attorneys as a result of the technology problems at city court Monday afternoon many of their clients were sent home and rescheduled for court. The question I have is how many times must the system crash before some realizes something might be wrong at Municipal court? I have done so many stories about the computer system that it’s not worth reporting any more. It was the same way with the Houston Emergency Center and the system crashes over there. At some point I felt like I was banging my head against the wall after reporting the repeated crashes. But municipal insiders tell The Insite city leaders have also been very upset with the problems at HEC and Municipal Court but when millions of dollars are spent on computer systems you can’t just throw them out – you have to find a way to make it work. That leads me to a question: Should there be a complete overhaul of HEC and the Municipal Court computer systems or give them time to work?
