Former Houston city council candidate Jay Aiyer is on probation already….He was in state court this morning and entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge and was placed on probation. You’ll remember the Houston Community College Trustee was arrested just last week after allegations of tampering with a governmental record. Today we’re told he appeared in the 184th court and negotiated his felony down to a misdemeanor and then entered a guilty plea. According to the judge’s sentence Aiyer can no longer participate or contribute to a political campaign for the duration of his probation. He will also have to perform 160 hours of community service. Sources tell The Insite it’s rare the Harris County District Attorney’s office would allow someone to negotiate down from a state jail felony to a misdemeanor but that person says this case was very political. Aiyer’s walked away from the court with one year of probation!
