At 6:23pm Wednesday afternoon the temperature in Houston was still hovering around 95 degrees. It was hot. But I really felt bad for the folk who found themselves lingering in the heat at the Harris County Jail. They were not inmates but family of inmates who were visiting. The line at the facility snaked out the building – out the door – to the end of the sidewalk in front the bricked structure. Where was the ice cream man or the lemon aide kids for the parched folk. All I noticed nearby them was a barbecue truck. The folk were already being cooked in the sun and the last thing they needed was barbecue. So all I could do was look through the glass of the air conditioned vehicle I was riding in and wonder just how long were they willing to wait to see family members in that heat. I’m sure some folk may have had some strong words for incarcerated individuals when they made it inside the building. Just something The Insite noticed and wanted to share!
