The Insite had a chance to speak with legendary Houston rapper Willie D Sunday about his upcoming projects. The Geto Boys member is very busy. He was leaving the studio when I caught up with him. He says he’s working on his solo album and a c-d for his new group called Huntzville. Will says his solo effort will be like nothing you’ve heard before. He says his creative process has taken a year because he doesn’t want to work with just any producer or any beats. He says the style you’ll hear will be distinct and you couldn’t imagine anyone else rapping over the beats but him. The Houstonian has also been very busy traveling the world. While on breaks from his album production he’s toured several countries since November. On that list: Australia, Germany, Japan, and Finland just to name a few. He says, “overseas has been very kind to me.” But now he’s back home in the states with an anticipated release date between April and June of 2008. But that’s not all that’s on his plate. He’s also pushing for a 2008 release date for his Texas based group Huntzville. The three rappers have been honing their skills in the studio as they prepare to go public. Will says both projects are close to completion. And if that isn’t enough you can expect another tour in September or October of 2007 from one of the hardest working rappers in Houston. So make sure you keep your eyes and ears open for Willie D and Huntzville – coming to a store near you real soon!
