TWO OF HOUSTON’S MOST POWERFUL AFRICAN AMERICANS ARE ON DIFFERENT SIDES!

IS THIS A DANGEROUS DIVIDE IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY OR BUSINESS AS USUAL?

The Insite has learned Houston State Senator Rodney Ellis will announce Thursday he is supporting the bond proposal for HISD. He will make it public at a 10 am press conference at Worthing High School. This will be a direct contradiction with Houston State Representative Sylvester Turner who came out against the bond proposal. Turner and other African American leaders say the proposal lack some key components in the black community, so they can’t support it. Ellis finds himself aligning with members of the Hispanic community and LULAC. They say it’s a bond proposal that will benefit the children in the community. The Insite has been told Ellis will also have a long list of prominent African American leaders backing him on his effort to get the HISD bond proposal passed.
