SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT STOPPING JENA 6!
“Shame on you.” That was just one of the statements aimed at federal officials by Democratic lawmakers holding a hearing on the Jena Six case. The House Judiciary Committee heard from witnesses about the case that has inflamed racial tensions in Louisiana and spurred civil rights activists elsewhere. Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee told the U.S. attorney for Louisiana’s western district he should be ashamed for not doing more about nooses hung in a tree at the Jena high school campus. Donald Washington, the first black to hold that position, said he was offended, too, and contacted the local district attorney to investigate the issue. The D.A. was invited to the hearing on Capitol Hill, but he declined to show.
QUESTION: A local radio talk show host in Houston said Jackson-Lee went too far when she chastised US Attorney Donald Washington. That talk show host said Jackson-Lee has never behaved so rudely with white US Attorneys so why did she feel confident to go off on the black US Attorney. What’s your opinion on this issue?
