Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Legacy Pines Apartment complex located in the 11100 block of Louetta Road in northwest Harris County, in reference to a report of a discharge of a firearm.
When deputies arrived they found that an asian female (DiJian WAN) had been shot and killed and an asian male (Xiqun ZHU) had been shot in the lower left leg. ZHU and witnesses described the assailant as an asian male. After obtaining a description, deputies began searching the apartment complex and surrounding area for the attacker. During the search, deputies received a report of an asian male pointing pistols at a person on Hufsmith-Kohrville Road. Sheriff’s deputies on the ground and the Sheriff’s Aerial Support program were called to the area and were able to locate the asian male suspect in a parking lot in the 17000 block of Hufsmith-Kohrville.
It appeared that the suspect (Xiaozhou LIU) on Hufsmith-Kohrville had taken his own life.
Information revealed later shows that LIU was the estranged husband of WAN and that he has been stalking her during the last week. LIU also contacted a friend shortly after WAN was shot and told his friend that he had just done something awful and was going to die.
The circumstances leading up to the shootings are still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Homicide Division.
