City Council Member Adrian Garcia co hosts the visitation of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in conjunction with the Veterans Memorial Park Foundation. The traveling wall is a replica of the original version that is permanently displayed in Washington D.C. The wall will be open for public viewing at the Veteran’s Memorial Park located at 1800 Tidwell Rd. (Hardy & Tidwell). There will be several events scheduled throughout the week, in memory of our military veterans and in an effort to promote patriotism within our youth. A Veteran’s Symposium will be organized at Sam Houston High School on Saturday with the first session starting at 9:00 a.m. and the second session at 2:00 p.m. The main objective of the symposium is to raise awareness of the sacrifices that our Nations Heroes endured in Vietnam and to strengthen patriotism for all Houstonians. “I am honored to host this memorial as it is symbolic to the sacrifices that great Americans made during difficult times in our Country. The Vietnam Wall during it’s stay in our city will serve as an opportunity for reflection, meditation, and to honor those who served our country during the Vietnam War and it will also honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice most recently, and for those currently serving our wonderful nation overseas. I also encourage Houstonians to visit this memorial, as it only visits our community every few years ” stated Council Member Garcia.
