Insite exclusive details: The Insite spoke with Cimberli Johnson Tuesday before this story broke. She denied any sexual relationship with the 14 year old student. Johnson says her goal was to get the young boy back into school. She told the Insite he was a known problem student and she mentored him so that he would get back on track. Johnson says there are several teachers who personally mentor individual students at Ryan Middle. But she did tell me she regrets taking the student once to the Galleria without his grandmother’s permission. Johnson said the student asked if he could go with her to the mall because he had been there only a couple of times before. She also said she purchased the student food because he claimed he wasn’t eating at home. Johnson also said the problems began last week when the aunt of the 14 year old boy became upset that Johnson did not socially promote her son to the next grade. She says that aunt allegedly told her she was going to make her pay and that’s when the allegations were reported to HISD. The high school administrator also said in the past she would provide the 14 year old with rides home from school but that stopped 3 weeks ago because she was just too busy. As for the cell phone. Johnson says she didn’t buy the student the phone by herself. She tells The Insite she took up a collection at the school to buy the phone to also motivate the young man to stay in enrolled. The principal says she was emotionally hurt by the allegations from the student’s family. Now, while the school district reportedly launch the investigation on Tuesday Johnson tells The Insite school officials have known about the family’s allegations since last week. But once again Johnson denied any wrongdoing!
