THE INSITE GETS HIS OWN ATARI VIDEO GAME, SORT OF!

MOVE OVER XBOX I’M BRINGING ATARI BACK!

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to my desk Monday afternoon at FOX 26. I found what appeared to be an authentic old school Atari video game cartridge. It had my picture on it and it was labeled ‘Insite Attackers.’ Thanks to FOX photographer Mike Foster who created this great gift. He used a picture of the snake I photographed in front of my home last week. He placed it on the old Atari cart and it’s looks real. It’s unfortunate I still don’t have my Atari console from the 80’s to determine if there is really such a game. Once again, thanks Mike Foster for creating it and for his wife Kim for putting up with the creation process!

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF APRIL POOLS DAY?

IT’S TIME FOR WATER SAFETY IN OUR COMMUNITY!

The Houston Police Department is supporting the efforts of the Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services (HCPHES) in promoting April Pools Day 2008. This valuable water safety event provides a great opportunity for local schools, churches and other community organizations to work together to increase public awareness of drowning prevention. Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services is partnering with several local agencies to promote drowning awareness beginning April 1, 2008 and continuing through the summer season.

April Pools Day 2008 encourages organizations to plan and conduct water safety awareness events in their community. Each facility (public and private) can plan and host program activities in their communities that emphasize parental/adult supervision, water safety skills practice, life jacket education, recreational swim and “hands-on” water safety demonstrations.

The Houston Police Department wants all children to have a safe and enjoyable swimming season. For more information about April Pools Day, please contact the Water Safety Program Coordinator at 713-439-6230, or visit the HCPHES website at www.hcphes.org.

HEY INSITE, YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING!

SHE HAD TO BE A LADY OF THE EVENING!

I was out and about Sunday evening with some friends in southwest Houston when I had an unusual occurrence. It began with me leaving a local establishment to make a quick run to my car in the parking lot because I’d forgotten something. It was around 8pm in the evening. As I grabbed what I needed out of the vehicle and started closing the door, I heard a light voice coming from the night. The street light revealed a white female who appeared to be in her fifties or at least living a hard life. Right away I knew what was happening. She said in a low voice, “you want to do something.” I responded by saying, “no thank you mam.” She then walked away down the rain slicked road into darkness. Just a slice of life from The Insite!

THE ONLY EVIDENCE IN THE DB COOPER HIJACKING GOES ON AUCTION BLOCK HERE IN TEXAS!

HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU THINK THE OLD BILLS WILL FETCH?

The boy who found the lone piece of evidence linked to the world’s only unsolved skyjacking is now a 30-something father of five who has decided to start selling his treasure.
Brian Ingram was an 8-year-old on a family camping trip when he discovered three bundles of deteriorating $20 bills on the shore of the Columbia River near Portland, Ore., in 1980. The money turned out to be some of the $200,000 ransom D.B. Cooper was carrying when
he parachuted from a plane after a 1971 hijacking.
Now Ingram’s taking some of his find to auction, offering 15 bills through Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries. The live and online auction was announced Monday and scheduled for June 13-14. “My wife and I have discussed it over a few years, and we just decided we wanted to share it with people,” said Ingram, 36, of Mena, Ark. In November 1971, a man identifying himself as Dan Cooper, later mistakenly but enduringly identified as D.B. Cooper, hijacked a Northwest Orient flight from Portland to Seattle, claiming he had a bomb.
At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, he released the passengers in exchange for $200,000 and four parachutes and asked to be flown to Mexico. He jumped out the back of the plane — and into the lore of the Pacific Northwest — somewhere near the Oregon state line.
Cooper vanished without a trace until Ingram came upon the $5,880 while brushing his hand over the sand, trying to clear a spot for a campfire. The FBI matched the serial numbers and
returned all but 13 bills to Ingram six years after the family gave them to the agency.
Once he sells the first 15, Ingram said he isn’t sure how he’ll proceed with the rest, other than knowing he’ll keep a few. While he prefers to stress the historic and sentimental value of the
bills, he recognizes they could be tickets to college for his kids ranging in age from 7 to 14.

THE REAL REASON WHY ANNA NICOLE’S SON DIED!

THE LATEST ON DANIEL SMITH!

A Bahamas jury ruled Monday that Anna Nicole Smith’s son died from an accidental drug overdose, just like his mother. The seven-member jury, which deliberated for less than two hours, recommended no criminal charges in the September 2006 death of 20-year-old Daniel Smith.
The son of the former Playboy playmate died after coming to the Bahamas to meet his new baby sister on Sept. 10, 2006. His mother died early the next year in Florida from an accidental drug overdose at age 39.

JAZZ GREAT NANCY WILSON HOSPITALIZED!

SHE SUFFERED A COLLAPSED LUNG!

Nancy Wilson was hospitalized Monday for treatment of a collapsed lung, a spokeswoman said. The 71-year-old Grammy-winning singer was expected to recover but will not be able to make a performance scheduled in Memphis, Tenn., next weekend, said Devra Levy, wife of Wilson’s manager, John Levy. Wilson’s lung was being reinflated at Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree and she was in good spirits, Devra Levy told The Associated Press.
Wilson, who lives in the Southern California high desert, began experiencing pain and was taken to the hospital by her husband, Wiley Burton. Devra Levy said she did not know the cause of the collapsed lung. She said Wilson has had some respiratory problems over the years.
Wilson has been singing professionally for more than 50 years and is semiretired. Last year, her album “Turned to Blue” won the Grammy for best jazz vocal album. She also won that category at the 2005 Grammys for the album “R.S.V.P. (Rare Songs, Very Personal).” In 1965 she was presented the Grammy for best rhythm & blues recording for “How Glad I Am.”

R&B SINGER SEAN LEVERT DEAD AT 39!

FIRST HIS BROTHER NOW HIM!

Sean Levert has died after a medical emergency in jail.

Levert, 39, was taken from the Cuyahoga County jail in Cleveland on Sunday night after suffering from high blood pressure and hallucinations, but died within the hour at Lutheran Hospital.

Cuyahoga County jail, warden Kevin McDonough said Levert had been sick and guards were watching him at the jail’s regular cellblock because he had been acting strangely.

“There was nothing that would show any of this,” McDonough said. “He had an illness while he was here and it turned into an emergency at that time.”

Last week Sean was sentenced to one year and 10 months in jail for failing to pay $85,000 in child support.

Sean was the second brother of the R&B trio LeVert to pass away. Gerald Levert was 40 when he died in 2006 of an accidental mix of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

FETUS FOUND ON CONTINENTAL AIRLINES PLANE!

A YOUNG GIRL IS BEING QUESTIONED!

Investigators have questioned a 14-year-old girl they suspect gave birth in the bathroom of a Continental Airlines plane in Houston, police said Monday.

Police said preliminary results of an autopsy on the fetus indicated it was stillborn and not viable.

Police were called to Bush Intercontinental Airport after a cleaning crew found the fetus inside a wastebasket in the airplane bathroom about 15 minutes after the plane landed Sunday afternoon.

The Boeing 737 plane landed in Houston on a non-stop flight from New York’s LaGuardia Airport. The plane, which was about 30 minutes late, carried 144 passengers and six crew members.

“We talked to a number of passengers and located a particular juvenile we are questioning,” Houston police spokesman John Cannon said. “The juvenile has possible involvement as the one who gave birth.”

Police questioned the juvenile late Sunday night. Cannon said he did not immediately know where she was from.

“We are trying to make determinations of where and when this occurred, how long into the flight,” Cannon said. “All indications are it occurred sometime on the flight.”

Houston police are involved because the fetus was discovered within the city limits.

Julie King, a spokeswoman for Houston-based Continental Airlines, declined to comment Monday.

FORMER MISS KOREA TEXAS INTERVIEWS CURRENT MISS TEXAS ONLY ON THE INSITE!

THE BEAUTY QUEENS TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES!
Houston, Texas – March 25, 2008. Interview with Crystal Stewart, Miss Texas USA 2007, currently in Las Vegas competing for Miss USA 2008.

Diane: How is it like being in Las Vegas so far?

Crystal: Actually, I got here yesterday. It’s been amazing when I stepped into the airport, it was a little overwhelming because of casinos everywhere, big bill boards, lights, but it’s been a great experience. It’s been great so far.

Diane: What has been your proudest moment in life as Miss Texas USA?

Crystal: My best moment since winning Miss Texas I would have to say is my motivational speech called “Waiting to Win”. I did a test version of it at a church and it was received very well. That is what I have been doing and want promote a career in, so I would say my motivational speaking.

Diane: Is that where you envision yourself in the future as?

Crystal: Yes, I actually want to open a charm school in three years and continue speaking. Also I want to write a character education curriculum for Texas schools.

Diane: Perfect. Crystal, you have got it all. If you win Miss USA what is your biggest dream?

Crystal: You know what? It’s a way to impact people and their lives and talking to people about their lives and talking about persistence, patience, and perseverance. I would love to win Miss Universe and represent the United States, it would be an honor. To be able to have the title of Miss Universe as Miss USA would be amazing.

Diane: Have you ever created the path to being “the first”(ie. such as creating a name for the minority community)?

Crystal: Well actually, I can say, I am the first African American to win Miss Texas USA. I know Chelsea Smith is mixed. Her mother is Caucasian her father is African American so she considers herself biracial. I’m not, both of my parents are African American. So I can say that I am the first true African American for Miss Texas USA.

Diane: Wow. I really hope you will advance and know Miss USA has crowned ladies from a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds. Coming from the Asian American community I know there a lot of women that look forward to the opportunity to compete for the prestigious Miss USA title. How will you be more involved with the Asian American community and other minority communities in Texas if you win Miss USA?

Crystal: I would love to join different organizations because we are all minorities here. I think we could work together. I would join different organizations and support it in anyway possible. The one thing Texas is is that it’s very diverse and multi-cultural. Representing Texas, I represent everyone. I represent Koreans, Asians, Black, Whites, every creed or color. So I would like to support it in anyway possible.

Diane: That’s great. We come from a similar standpoint of being a minority and representing the entire State of Texas. As a Miss Korea Texas titleholder I run into a lot of stereotypes in pageantry. What is one of your biggest stereotypes or challenges you face as Miss Texas USA?

Crystal: One of the stereotypes is that we are not intelligent because it is a “beauty pageant”. The one thing I can say is, for instance, that Rachel Smith is great title holder, she is very well educated and very well spoken and I would like to say so for myself as well a college graduate and educated. I think one of the stereotypes is that we are not intelligent women. I think it takes everything: craft, beauty, and intelligence.

Diane: Great answer Crystal. You know, there are a lot of young women that look up to you. Is there something you would want to tell them on this interview? Any words of inspiration coming from your reign?

Crystal: All I can say is try hard for your dream. I always say this quote, “The race doesn’t go to the swift but to the one that endures”. It took me five years to win Miss Texas. But I did not give up on my goal; I just worked harder and trained harder. I just did everything I needed to do to pursue my goals, dreams, and confidence and it paid off. The one thing I talk about is persistence and perseverance; it always pays off if you set a goal and work hard to achieve it.

Diane: Any other small tips that we can laugh or have fun with?

Crystal: Fun tips? Put vaseline on your teeth if you get tired of smiling. There is this thing called butt glue for your swimsuit if you don’t want it to ride while you are walking. They call it panty tape or butt glue so it will keep everything in place.

Diane: How can we, as the Asian American community, support you?

Crystal: The one thing is no matter what spirituality you are; you can keep me in your hopes and your prayers. Also you can vote for me on www.missusa.com website for Miss Photogenic.

Diane: Anyone you would like to thank for bringing you this far in life?

Crystal: Oh wow, you know what; there are so many people if I start naming I think I will forget. Mainly my parents, they have been really supportive throughout the beginning. They have given a lot of money, a lot of time, a lot of tears, and efforts towards me. Also my good friend who got me started in pageantry. My best friends and my team- they call themselves “Team Crystal”. I’m missing people like sponsors from Miss Texas organization, Julie Philips, etc., there are just a ton of people I’m sure I’ll forget if I really start listing naming names. But first and foremost, my parents.

Diane: Yes, I know we are always in debt to them. My last question might throw us off course a little. Are you in intimidated, fearful, or how are you feeling at this competition?

Crystal: You know what, I feel great. You would think I would have all the pressure in the world. I’m coming from a huge state which is well known for the pageant experience we have had. In 1995 back when Miss Texas won Miss USA. I have a great team behind me. I’m one of the older contestants. So you would think I would have a lot of pressure, but I feel very calm and have a peace about me. And all I know is that is that if I can compete with confidence I know I did all that I can do and I’ll do my best and no one can hold me back when I lose.

Diane: Great Crystal. I went onto the website already and they already have pictures up of contestants from every state. You look beautiful and stunning, believe that you will place in the top. I wish you the best Crystal, from our community and the State of Texas. Thank you Crystal for your time!

Crystal: Thank you so much. Diane, you have been very supportive. The Korean community and Asian community as a whole should be grateful to have you. You work so hard, thank you for everything you’ve done, so thanks Diane.

TIERRA ADAMS REMAINS HAVE BEEN RECOVERED!

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE FOR HER DEATH!

The search for a pregnant woman from Houston missing since January ended Sunday after her body was found on the side of a road in the Huntsville area.

One of Tierra Adams’ relatives told Texas EquuSuearch founder Tim Miller that the woman’s bound had been found Sunday night.

Officials with the Walker County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Adams’ body had been found but have not released any other details.

Adams, 25, was last seen at about 1 a.m. on Jan. 28 near Bingle Road and Highway 249. Her child’s due date was Feb. 24.

Search dogs picked up a scent of Adams on Feb. 15 near the Church at Willow Park, located at 12650 North Houston Rosslyn. However, heavy winds that day deterred the search.

Volunteers, family and friends helped search for Adams until Feb. 15, when the search was suspended due to no new evidence or leads in the case.
