Houston rapper Paul Wall didn’t just blow out a cake to celebrate the day of his birth on March 8th. The Grammy nominated entertainer hit the big stage at Warehouse live where he picked up a mic and performed with a long list of other bands. The event was sponsored by the Houston Press. Lots of Wall’s celebrity friends and fans also turned out Saturday night for the hip hop performance. The Insite made it backstage thanks to public relations guru Gina Rotolo. It is there where I ran into a lot of familiar faces before the show at the downtown venue. On the list: Former Houston Rockets player John Lucas, Gu, Kiotti, Jeweler Johnny Dang, Dreadlocks, Kalele ‘Party King’ Thumbutu, Thomas ‘T-Mo’ Bordelon, Dana Davis, Terry, Mo in the Morning, Michael Wadel, Trey White, Trae the Truth, and the list goes on. Some of the bands that performed were Skepticynic, Smitty, Capgun Suicide, Yung Redd & The Grit Boys, Another Day, Coop, Three Fantastic, The Mighty Orq, Dirty, Hearsay and Austin-based band Full Service. The bands were all part of the Hometown Showdown music series. A sampling of some of Houston’s best bands ranging from hip hop to Rock. Here are the pics I snapped at the event!
Note: The Insite snapped the photos backstage while Kalele ‘Party King’ Thumbutu grabbed the pictures on stage!
