URBAN LEGEND PUT TO REST: THE ROCKETS EMBARRASSED ABOUT A SPONSOR?

HAVE YOU HEARD THE ONE ABOUT KUNLUN?

It was an urban legend I heard at one of the Rockets’ games from a group of people who were in the advertising business. They claimed the Houston Rockets organization was very embarrassed after signing on a sexual lubricant company as a sponsor. The ad experts claimed KunLun was a very high profile sexual lubricant company out of China. They claimed by the time the Rockets management realized what they had gotten into the ink on the contract was already dry. So when the KunLun sign came up on the rotating sponsor’s board at Toyota Center everyone was laughing – even The Insite. I even took a picture to blog about it later. But after some research I found out the ad executives were wrong. KunLun is a lubricant used on automobiles – not people. I have included a recent press release to verify that. So, I guess Rockets management is laughing all the way to the bank while the joke is on the ad execs who are snickering about the so called embarrassment!

KunLun Press Release: PetroChina Lubricant Company and its two research centers in Lanzhou and Dalian, as well as 12 production bases and six sales centers across China have all passed the ISO/TS16949:2002 certification awarded by TUV.

In early 2006, Kunlun Lubricant became the designated lubricant for the assembly and service of German diesel engine manufacturer Deutz, which is extremely strict in terms of lubricant purity. Its designated lubricant in Germany is a world famous high-end product.
