THE MAN WITH ALL THE TEXAS TIES UNDER FIRE!
HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson, his tenure tarnished by allegations of political favoritism and a criminal investigation, announced his resignation Monday amid the wreckage of the national housing crisis.
He leaves behind a trail of unanswered questions about whether he tilted the Department of Housing and Urban Development toward Republican contractors and cronies.
The move comes at a shaky time for the economy, with soaring mortgage foreclosures imperiling the nation’s credit markets.
In announcing that his last day at HUD will be April 18, Jackson said only, “There comes a time when one must attend more diligently to personal and family matters.”
Some Congressional Democrats had pushed for him to leave.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said that while Jackson’s resignation is “appropriate, it does nothing to address the Bush administration’s wait-and-don’t-see posture to our nation’s housing crisis.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said HUD will be called on to work with Congress on assisting refinancing for borrowers faced with imminent foreclosure.
The ethical allegations against Jackson “meant that the Bush administration’s ineffective housing policies were being burdened by an even more ineffective HUD Secretary,” Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., said after Jackson’s announcement.
President Bush called Jackson “a strong leader and a good man.” Ties between the two men go back to the 1980s when they lived in the same Dallas neighborhood. It was Jackson’s personal ties to Bush that brought him to Washington, where he displayed a forceful personal style at HUD for seven years, first as the agency’s No. 2 official and since 2004 in the top slot.

HER CHILDREN TAKEN AWAY BY CPS!
By: Jamie Nash
A Conroe mother of four remained jailed Thursday for possession of child pornography showing one of her own daughters, and has a hold placed on her by the United States Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Maria Quijano, 38, was charged with possession of child pornography after officers with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit conducted a raid of her home Tuesday and discovered photographs showing Quijano’s 10-year-old daughter performing sexual acts.
Officers said Wednesday they may issue a warrant for the arrest of Quijano’s 53-year-old husband, who was not present during the Tuesday raid. Everyone interviewed claimed he works in Houston, but they did not know where or how to reach him, SIU Sgt. David Womack said.
Child Protective Services was called to the residence and removed Quijano’s four children — including the daughter allegedly pictured in the photographs — from the home, placing them in the custody of a relative living across the driveway.
SIU officers arrested Quijano in a Tuesday afternoon raid of her mobile home in the Shady Acres Trailer Park, located in the 1000 block of East Dallas Street, when officers went in with search warrants based on reports that Quijano’s home was some kind of illegal store selling beer and cocaine.
In one of the allegedly pornographic photos, Womack said Quijano was clearly seen in the background.
Investigators also allegedly recovered large quantities of beer, cocaine residue, small plastic bags and other evidence that supported the allegations, Womack said. They also removed a home computer suspected of containing more child pornography, he said.

THE ATTACK ALLEGEDLY OCCURRED IN MISSISSIPPI!
Poison drummer Rikki Rockett was arrested on a rape warrant and his case was turned over to the district attorney’s office for possible grand jury consideration, officials said Friday.
Rockett, 46, was arrested Monday at or near Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles police said. He was booked and released, and was awaiting an extradition decision by Mississippi prosecutors.
A woman in Mississippi filed a complaint that she was raped on Sept. 23, 2007, at the Silver Star Casino, Neshoba County sheriff’s investigator Ralph Sciple said.
“The subject, Rikki Rockett, forcibly had sex with an adult in one of the hotel rooms,” according to a complaint.
Sciple said the woman contacted authorities several days after the alleged attack. He did not discuss details of the case, but said his office believed the woman’s complaint warranted review by the district attorney.
THEY WERE JUST AS GOOD AS THE CHICKEN SHACK!
I was on Navigation Drive Thursday when I saw a building across the street that brought back memories. It was a chicken restaurant. I could tell from the design it was one of the old Super Fried chickens I remember seeing in my old neighborhood in Baton Rouge growing up. I used to love Super Fried Chicken and their potato salad. The only thing better to me was the Chicken Shack. I grew up eating both of them. Also, when I became an adult the Chicken Shack sponsored my public affairs talk show on WVLA TV (NBC) called ‘Crossroads’. The theme song was ‘Shock the Monkey’ and it was sponsored by The Chicken Shack where the ‘chicken is knuckle sucking good’. Just a slice of life from the Insite – Did you ever have a Super Fried Chicken in your area long ago!
NO MORE SLIDING DOWN AT THE STATION!
The Insite has heard from Houston Firefighters that the department will soon get rid of the firemen’s pole or what I like to call stripper poles. I hear they’re dangerous and come with a lot of liability. So the firefighters tell The Insite the department will now build only 1 story fire stations or firehouses in Houston. What do you think, is it time to say good buy to the firehouse stripper poles?
