THE GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW CO-CATHEDRAL OF THE SACRED HEART!

THE NEW HOLY PLACE IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON!

It’s a day Catholics in Houston have been waiting for. The opening of the new $40 million dollar Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in downtown Houston. The holy place will be the new centerpiece of Catholicism in our community. The church that took 3 years to build is the brainchild of Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza. He began an effort to raise private donations to build the structure back in the 1990′s. Fiorenza’s dedication was acknowledged by Cardinal Daniel DiNardo in the consecration Wednesday afternoon. Hundreds of invited guests and donors were in attendance for the big event. When the doors are open to the public Saturday at least 2,000 parishioners will be able to worship at the co-cathedral. The Insite was there for the big blessing and so were several other religious and private big wigs. Here are some of the pictures I was able to snap!
