I THOUGHT IT WAS WAY TOO MUCH FOR TV!

OPRAH’S SEGMENT ON THE DEATH OF HER DOG!

I was off from work this week when I turned it on the local CBS station around 4pm. I saw Oprah crying and I wondered what was going on. Then after a couple of minutes of watching her bawl her eyes out about this person she called Sophia or Sophie – I thought this must be a really close relative. Then after about 5 additional minutes I find out it’s her dog. I was like no way. Is Oprah doing an entire hour about her dog Sophia or Sophie dying? I can’t seem to recall the name because I turned the channel after I snapped a quick photo. I realize how people can get really close to animals. I remember having a really good friend in Little Rock who had to take a few days off while her cat was dying. She was really hurt. I felt really bad for her. But I don’t have a pet and can’t understand Oprah’s total show or even a segment being dedicated to her pet. That’s just me. I haven’t had a real pet since I was about 10 years old when my dog – a mutt named Puppy died. It was tough but I didn’t do an entire segment on my elementary school’s morning announcements about it. Of course, at 10 I didn’t have that therapeutic avenue as an option. What do you think about Oprah dedicating a full show or segment to her pet?
