A Harris County judge has set bond at $1 million for an accounting clerk accused of stealing $6 million from her employer. The bond for Marcia Sinclair was originally set at $12 million.
Sinclair pleaded not guilty to felony theft at a formal arraignment on Thursday.
Sinclair is accused of embezzling the money from Gulf Coast Window Covering, where she worked as an accounts receivable clerk for 16 years. The accused thefts took place over a four-year period.
Prosecutors say she spent the money to fund a lavish lifestyle that included designer merchandise, trips to Europe and the Bahamas, and $100,000 worth of furniture for her house.
The defense attorney for Sinclair have requested that she be placed on suicide watch since she is under the treatment of a psychiatrist.
Sinclair was arrested Monday.
