HOW THE INSITE’S FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN BATON ROUGE ARE DEALING WITH THE AFTERMATH OF GUSTAV – IT’S TIME TO BARBECUE!

WHAT ARE YOU RELATIVES DOING IN THE CAPITAL CITY?

My family and the friends I know in Baton Rouge are pushing through the devastation of Gustav the only way Louisianians know how. That means they’re cleaning up their own neighborhoods and get this – they’re grilling at their homes. Because there is still no power to a majority of the city most have gone outside to get rid of that extra meat before it spoils in their freezers and refrigerators. My Mother turned down my offer to come to Houston Monday night. Dollie told me she was having a good time in Baton Rouge because the unfortunate situation has a way of bringing people together. I called her again Wednesday morning and she said she was fine and she and my sisters were out barbecuing. Meanwhile, there is a curfew many have to follow to ensure there is no looting. There’s only been looting reported in Plaquemine Parish. Not the city. The feds are also on the ground in Baton Rouge handing out tarps for roofs and ice to families. So far most of the stores in the city remain closed and gas stations are low on fuel. The Governor reported there were 40 trucks of fuel headed in from Texas. So, if you have family and friends in Louisiana make sure you check on them during this tough time!
