SUSPENSION AND BANNED FROM EXTRA DUTY JOBS!

UPDATE: HPD OFFICIALS NOW CONFIRM THE DETAILS ON THIS POST!

The Insite has learned there are quiet negotiations going on behind the scenes at the Houston Police Department. It involves more than 40 police officers caught up in an extra duty job scandal. Some of the officers are accused of being on the clock for HPD while also working extra duty jobs. They were allegedly double dipping. That’s a violation of the department’s policy. We’ve learned while an internal probe recommended terminations for at least four of the high ranking police officers involved in the scandal, HPD Chief Harold Hurtt is considering long term suspensions and a lifetime banishment from extra duty jobs for some of the officers involved. These negotiations are going on between HPD and the legal staff from the Houston Police Officers’ Union. Officials on both sides have not made any public comments on these negotiations. It was three weeks ago when I first reported the internal probe was complete but punishment had not been handed down. I’ve heard many of the officers involved in the investigation have accepted their punishment while others continue to negotiate for better deals. The Insite will try and get an on the record comment from those involved. Keep reading. What do you think of the negotiations? Should these officers accused of stealing from the city be fired or just suspended? The Insite would love to hear your opinion!
