You never know just how important those little red, yellow, and green signals are until you’re without them. Traffic in the Houston area became disastrous Monday morning and afternoon. This is the result of several traffic signals being out as a result of Hurricane Ike. The storm knocked the power out to the controllers of the traffic flow. That resulted in four way stops at various intersections and backed up traffic. The problem wasn’t just on the surface streets but on the interstates and highways. I saw traffic early Monday evening back up from well past downtown on 45 all the way through southwest Houston. There was a delay on Richmond from the loop all the way to Weslayan. Were you stuck or delayed by the traffic nightmare?
