CONGRESSMAN AL GREEN BATTLING SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS!

GREEN ALLEGES IT’S AN EXTORTION ATTEMPT BY A FORMER STAFF!

Houston Congressman Al Green, U.S. Representative from Texas’ 9th congressional district is being accused of sexually assaulting a former employee.

Green’s former district director, Lucinda Daniels, claims she was assaulted at her home in May 2007.

“He sexually assaulted her, she did not give consent,” said Daniels’ attorney, Chip Lewis. “He tried to pursue a romantic relationship after that, she spurned his advances.”

That’s when Daniels claims the Congressman made things hostile at work. After her resignation Daniels says Green then smeared her character to possible future employers. Daniels, according to Green’s attorney, allegedly demanded $1.8 million from the Congressman.

Instead of paying, Green filed a lawsuit of his own Friday proclaiming his innocence.

Court documents say “Green has done nothing wrong and refuses to pay ‘hush money’ just for political expediency. Green will not be extorted or blackmailed by Daniels. He will not be the victim of a shake down by Daniels and her agents.”

When asked why Daniels didn’t report the alleged assault or make it public when it happened, Lewis said it was out of respect for the constituents of the 9th congressional district.

“She said, ‘Chip, I trust this man like a father,’” Lewis said. “My trust is shattered. I want to make sure he doesn’t do this to anyone else.’”

Lewis says they plan to meet with the Houston Police sex crimes unit to pursue criminal charges.

Green, 61, was elected in 2004. Daniels worked at his office for four years.
