While the storm system of Hurricane Ike has past many Houstonians are still feeling the effects two months later.

Brenda Sharlow’s home was slammed by the storm system. She was left with ten holes in her tile roof. But here’s Sharlow’s problem – she says she can’t seem to get her insurance company to cover the cost of repairing all of the damage.

Sharlow says American Risk Insurance has only agreed to pay $3,000 for the damage to her roof while contractors say a tile roof will cost five times that to properly fix. The grandmother and provider for four people fears losing her home if she can’t get it repaired or renew her insurance coverage.

FOX 26 news spoke with a representative from the insurance company who said they would take a second look at Sharlow’s case even though her policy shouldn’t have been written on her tile roof. They say they only insure standard asphalt roofs on homes.
